Julia Alekseyeva is assistant professor of English at UPenn, and the author-illustrator of the award-winning graphic novel Soviet Daughter: A Graphic Revolution. She has published short graphic essays in The Nib, Jewish Currents, World Literature Today, Lilith, and several edited collections, and poetry in Recenter Press, Prairie Schooner, Milk Money, Sand Canyon Review, and elsewhere. Her first academic book, Antifascism and the Avant-Garde will be published in Feb 2025. She lives in Philadelphia with her Pyrenees-Husky rescue mutt named Akiva the Wise, an underused drum kit, and too many boxes of herbal tea.
